Our Mission

Creating a sacred sanctuary where you can restore your spirit, build resilience, and renew your connection to yourself through nature, creativity, and a nurturing community.

A Sanctuary For The Spirit

Hug A Giant Getaway is an artist-led nature based retreat designed to support mental and emotional well being through poetry, music, visual art, rest and nourishment. Set among the Giant Sequoias, the retreat offers gentle, non-clinical experiences that encourage slowing down, reflection, and nervous system regulation.

Nestled in the heart of Sequoia National Forest, our secluded retreat property is the ideal setting for artist and writer workshops, yoga and wellness retreats, or a peaceful nature escape. Here, you can reconnect with yourself, build emotional well-being, and leave with practical tools to sustain balance in your daily life.

Surrounded by ancient sequoias and a supportive community, our guests give themselves permission to prioritize their own healing and growth. Every program is designed to honor the complexity of modern life while providing the support needed for authentic transformation.

Why This Matters

Modern life leaves little room for rest, creativity and emotional processing. Hug a Giant Getaway offers a humane, accessible alternative—one that honors rest as a fundamental human need.

The retreat is designed to be:

Non-Clinical and Inclusive

A welcoming space for all, without medical interventions or clinical approaches.

Low-Pressure and Accessible

No rigid schedules or performance expectations—just space to be.

Supportive of Mental and Emotional Well-Being

Gentle practices that honor where you are and what you need.

Grounded in Nature and Creativity

Using art and the natural world as pathways to healing and renewal.

A Note on Community & Care

Hug a Giant Getaway is a collaborative project bringing together poetry, music, visual art, and place-based care. It is rooted in lived experience, creativity, and the belief that healing begins with safety, presence, and rest.

My Story

How I discovered this sacred place and why I knew I had to share its magic with other women.

Peaceful moments at the sanctuary

In 2014, a family member insisted I visit her cabin in this magical place. I'll never forget that first morning - I woke up completely in love with the area and the profound feeling of peace that enveloped me.

From that moment, I knew this place would change my life. I've been here every weekend since, and I simply can't get enough. This sanctuary brought me peace, love, tranquility, and a happiness I had never experienced before.

Here, I feel God's presence. I feel pure love. I feel completely safe and balanced in ways that transform my entire being. In this sacred space, I found myself through art, through quiet relaxation, through the simple joy of baking, and through deep meditation.

When something changes your life so profoundly, you feel called to share it. My art and creativity are woven into every retreat — from the paintings on the walls to the intuitive art sessions, the poetry in the Breathing Room, and the colors of each welcome basket. That's why I've opened my heart and this sanctuary to others who need what I found here - a place to heal, to create, to breathe, and to remember who they truly are.

A Gift For You: My 4:44 Calm Protocol

On my journey, I developed personal practices to find peace in moments of overwhelm. This is a soft guide from my heart to yours, for when you need to remember your strength and safety.

1

Breathe with Intention

Sit down and place your hand over your heart. Take a deep breath in for 4 seconds, hold for 4, and exhale for 6. Repeat this 4 times. Let your shoulders and jaw relax.

2

Whisper Your Truth

Gently say these words out loud: "Thank you to my invisible guide and angel. I see you. I feel you. Help me release what isn't mine. Help me remember who I am."

3

Remember 4:44

For me, 4:44 is a reminder that I am not alone. My heart is protected. I am safe. I am supported. Even in the storm, I can shine a soft light.

The Breathing Room

A dedicated quiet space for rest and regulation. Guests may recline or sit comfortably with stone eye masks, subtle aromatherapy, and optional meditation cards offering gentle breath prompts. No instruction. No pressure. Just rest.

Rooted in the poetic essence of the retreat, this space offers a co-regulated environment through natural imagery, ambient music, and gentle lighting. It is an artistic sanctuary where nature, technology, and art collapse into one harmony of peace and presence.

Nature-Synced Audio & Visuals

Guided breath, forest sounds, and soothing screens of sleeping animals or swaying trees.

Calming Aromatherapy

Dog-safe essential oil diffusers to create a peaceful and grounding atmosphere.

Poetry & Art Integration

"Tipsy Tussle" poetry and visual art are woven into the space to create a living, healing environment.

Stone Eye Masks

Stone eye masks are used as non-invasive sensory support to encourage relaxation, reduce mental overstimulation and promote deep rest. Guests may choose warm or cool masks and rest for 10-20 minutes.

Our Core Values

These principles guide everything we do, ensuring every guest feels seen, heard, and supported.
